St John's Wort Extract 100ml

St. John’s Wort is a perennial plant with yellow flowers which bloom from June until September. Finlandia’s St. John’s Wort fluid extract is manufactured from the aerial parts of the plant, the parts that grow above ground, and is 3-5 times more potent than the usual tincture.

St. John’s Wort has been used for centuries for a wide variety of ailments including nervous disorders, depression, neuralgia, wounds, burns, kidney and liver problems, as well as for its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory properties. This herb is well known for its benefit in pain disorders such as neuralgia and sciatica. It repairs the myelin sheath of nerve cells, thus improving nerve conductivity and relieving nerve pain. The oil made from the flowers of St John’s Wort is particularly useful topically to relieve burns, heal sores and soothe ulcers.

St John’s Wort also has documented use in North America, dating back to the early 1900s, in treating TB, serious lung issues, snake bites, dysentery, and weak muscle tone in children.
St. John's Wort is native to Europe but is commonly found in the US and Canada in the dry ground of roadsides, meadows, and woods. Although not native to Australia and long considered a weed, St. John's Wort is now grown there as a crop. Today, Australia produces 20 per cent of the world's supply.

The use of St. John's Wort dates back to the ancient Greeks. Hippocrates recorded the medical use of St. John's Wort flowers. St. John's Wort was given its name because it blooms about June 24th, the birthday of John the Baptist. "Wort" is an old English word for plant.
